Cam Brown
I'm a Senior Logic Design Engineer at Ampere Computing in Portland, Oregon. My role is SoC microarchitecture.
Most of my work is on the tools that take an architectural spec and turn it into a chip: integration flows that produce functionally and physically correct RTL, the floorplan that ships, and the power, timing, and area numbers the rest of the team plans around. I also own the CPU's SPR model.
Background
I joined Ampere in 2023 after interning there on the MMU of a custom core, and before that spent a year at SAS building test and triage automation for their machine learning platform.
I have an MS and a BS in Computer Engineering from Northwestern, with a focus on architecture and VLSI, and started out studying computer science and math at Carleton College.
Interests
Computer architecture, design automation, and lately agentic coding tools. Away from the keyboard: baseball, which I played through college, plus skiing, mountain biking, and climbing high peaks.
